These awards honour those who go above and beyond in workplaces, schools, communities and homes to create safer environments for children and young people.

The annual Queensland Child Protection Awards provide an opportunity to publicly acknowledge the efforts, commitment and unreserved energy of many people who make a significant contribution to our community to prevent child harm and neglect.
The Awards will be presented at the launch of Queensland Child Protection Week on Thursday 3 September 2026.
Categories Include
Professional
(Non-Government)
For professionals promoting child protection through their daily work in community settings.
Professional (Government)
Public sector staff making a difference through policy, practice or service design.
Volunteer
Recognising outstanding contributions by volunteers in both government and non-government organisations.
Regional Program
Celebrating programs making a real impact within Queensland regions including Moreton Bay, North QLD, Far North QLD, Central QLD, South East, and South West.,
Education Initiative
For creative tools, programs or research promoting child protection through learning.
Thriving Communities Initiative
Recognising community-driven events or projects that promote child safety in local areas.
Media & Communications
An article, news story, series, publication, campaign or communications strategy that demonstrates a significant contribution to highlighting child protection issues.
Commitment to Child Safe Organisational Principles Award
Awarded to organisations actively building child-safe cultures, in line with national principles.
Youth Participation
Transition 2 Success Initiative
Outstanding young person or outstanding contribution made by local community groups / local business involved with the T2S program to get the best outcomes for young people 15 and over who are involved in the youth justice system or are assessed as being at risk of entering it.
Our Children Our Future Award
Celebrating work that honours culture and family while empowering First Nations children and communities.
Nomination Guidelines
Award winners demonstrate exceptional commitment to preventing child harm and promoting child protection, aligned with the principles of the Child Protection Act 1999.
Nominees can be individuals, groups, or agencies, with achievements from work duties or community service.
Eligibility Requirements
- Consent to criminal history check, child protection history check, and additional checks by the Child Protection Week Committee.
- Availability for awards ceremony at Parliament House on Thursday, 3 September 2026.
- Availability for media opportunities in weeks leading to Child Protection Week (6–12 September 2026).
- Attendees consent to filming/photography for promotional use.
Judging Process
- Panel may reassign nominations to better-fitting categories.
- Panel may withhold awards if no suitable submissions.
Nomination Process
Respond to a maximum of two selection criteria (500 words total; 250 per criterion). Supporting materials like photos or brochures optional.
Selection Criteria:
- Achievement: Exceptional commitment or successful project improving child protection services.
- Durability: Strategies enhancing Queensland's child protection commitment.
- Community Involvement: Engaging communities via awareness campaigns/activities.
- Collaboration: Partnering with agencies for child wellbeing outcomes.
- Understanding: Advancing child protection issue awareness.
- Innovation: Creative methods to protect children/young people.
